Although the Irish Museum of Modern Art is quite far from the city centre (30 minutes walk from Trinity College), it is definitely worth a visit. Even if you're not a modern art lover. The IMMA is housed in the Royal Hospital Kilmainham, one of Dublin's architectural jewels. The architect was inspired by the Invalides in Paris, hence the grounds and the courtyard. So if you really don't want to see the galleries, you can enjoy the surroundings, walk around, have a picnic and play with your kids. When I went there with my old good friend Lucas on a windy sunny day, there were kites flying!
Lucas made a relevant comment when we stepped into the courtyard: 'Il y a toujours ce besoin de mettre des sphères dans les endroits rectangulaires'. Indeed. Always this need to create contrast. And it reminded me of the spheres in Morlaix's Couvent des Jacobins (not too sure about the name..).
